Shared folders make Google Docs better for teamwork

Google has announced that its online word processor Docs just got a little better for team collaboration, with a new feature that allows users to share entire folders.

This is a nice tweak — previously, you could invite users to collaborate with you on individual documents, but not on an entire group of documents in a folder. Google says this is the most-requested feature improvement in Docs.

Microsoft’s Bing search engine in challenge to Google

Microsoft’s Bing search engine is emerging as a challenger to the dominance of Google after capturing a near-11 per cent share of the market in little more than three months.

The latest statistics from Nielsen, the research firm, show that Bing, which went live in June, is now the fastest-growing internet search engine in the United States. Its market share leapt to 10.7 per cent in August, from 9 per cent in July — a rise of more than 22 per cent.

Tata Docomo partners Samsung to launch Galaxy 17500

Tata Docomo, the GSM brand of Tata Teleservices Limited, and Samsung Mobile today announced the launch Samsung Galaxy I7500, the first Android-powered Samsung mobile phone with in-built Google Mobile Services in India.

Tata DoCoMo’s SMS Offer in Kerala

Tata DoCoMo has introduced an 'SMS Offer' for all its existing and new pre-paid customers in Kerala, reports The Hindu Business Line.

With this, Tata DoCoMo pre-paid customers in Kerala can avail100 free local and national SMS everyday for till Nov. 25.

Only the first SMS of the day will be charged at 60p for local and Rs. 1.20 for national text messages. Also, do remember that the first chargeable SMS should be a non-VAS SMS. International messaging will not be included in the free SMS offer.

Nokia N97, Omnia HD Get Firmware Updates

It has been an interesting start to the week with two Symbian handset getting firmware updates almost simultaneously. Both run the Series 60 Fifth Edition OS and are more or less arch rivals. We are talking about the Nokia N97 and the Samsung Touchscreen flagship, the i8910 Omnia HD.

There seems to be an overdose of kinetic scrolling now in the menu, within contacts and even whilst scrolling through music tracks. iPhone and iPod owners might smirk at this - but Symbian users will know who important this was to them! The Nokia N97 also gets new widgets. Another thing that is interesting is the way the starting alphabet of the contacts pops up whilst you're scrolling. Very neat!
